Crossville to Crossville
So nothing interesting happened today. We woke up at 6:30a to find terrible weather. We checked the forecast and storm radar to find thunderstorms were reported all day, so we reluctantly booked another night in Crossville. We found that the next three day forecast reported beautiful skies so we decided to take our rest day early. If the weather holds out, we should make it to Damascus VA, exiting Tennessee and returning to the TransAmerica trail, on Monday.
We missed breakfast this morning, nothing special, and went next door to the Mexican restaurant for lunch. Neither Steve or I were all that enthusiastic about Mexican food for lunch, but it was the only acceptable place walking distance given the rain. We did stop at the convenience store on our way back to the hotel to get a bag of twitters and other snacks, which made us very happy!
We spent the rest of the day resting, because of course, today is a rest day. A day weather-wise that is ideal for relaxing all day.
Tomorrow we are off to Clinton TN about 75 miles, so we plan to get an early start, hence the early post!
I was wondering how far you would get with the forecast being so bad. Checked the weather this morning and it certainly didn't look very good for you guys. Glad you decided to have a rest day and stay dry. Enjoy your ride tomorrow. Can't believe it's almost over!
ReplyDeleteGood decision to stay out of the thunderstorms! Were you thinking of your hurricane riding day last year? No need to repeat that!
