Nashville
We were sitting and sipping coffee at about 9:00a this morning. The right side of the picture below shows the line up of fluids we routinely drink every morning. A cup of water, a cup of apple juice, and a cup or two of coffee! We had a leisurely breakfast this morning because the only important thing to do today was to wait for Andy and Paige to arrive; to kill time before Andy's arrival we tooled around Nashville on our bikes and rode through Vanderbilt University to explore the campus.
Our usual breakfast at the Inn |
By early afternoon, we were back at the Inn to await Andy and Paige's arrival. Steve was excited with anticipation and so was I. Andy and Paige arrived at about 2:30p. It was a wonderful father and son reunion when he arrived. It was so great that they were finally here. Andy and Paige wanted to get freshened up before we wandered next door to The Row for a quick nosh before we would head downtown. This restaurant is becoming our little hang out. Our third time. It's right next door to the Inn, so convenient and has a great menu!
After a light bit, we headed downtown to 2nd Ave and Broadway, the SOBRO (South Broadway Area) district. We wandered in and out of shops browsing around and listened to the live music coming from the bars and restaurants along the way. Nashville was crowded and it was only around 6:00p.
We decided to head to the restaurant early to have a drink before dinner. We had dinner reservations at 7:00p at Husk, a restaurant that the friends back home gave me a gift certificate for my birthday. It was a great choice. The restaurant featured southern cuisine with farm fresh ingredients and fruits and vegetables. We had cornmeal cakes and a mushroom and grilled melon appetizer. For dinner Paige and I had fish plates catfish and wreckfish, respectively. Steve and Andy had a chicken and beef plate, respectively. The food was just wonderful!

Outside the restaurant |
As we were walking back to the center of town, we stopped off to listen to Eric Church who was performing at the amphitheater. It was a sold out performance, but we could see the large video screens of him and hear his music from the road. Also performing in Nashville this evening were Shannia Twain and Dolly Parton. We didn't have tickets for any of these sold out performances, but you can just imagine how hopping Music Row was tonight! Nashville is a wild town on any given night of the week, but tonight - a Friday night and three sold out performances, it was jammed packed with people.

Downtown Nashville |
It was getting late, well late for Steve and I, so we left Andy and Paige to explore Nashville as younger couples do. We couldn't settle on a morning meet time so we just decided to text one another in the morning. I hopped into the red Ferrari shown here below. Kidding! Steve and I then hopped in a cab to the Hampton Inn and left the kids to explore.
I feel the need for speed! |
Looks like a great day, from the breakfast (particularly appetizing today for some reason) to the family reunion, to the Ferrari (I am having conflicting thoughts about Di driving a Ferrari), to a great dinner and the bustling town. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great city, like I told Andy, wish I could be there with you!
ReplyDeleteAll the people mentioned like Eric, Kaylee, I always watch Country Music Awards and they are newcomers to country music and won awards. Well Andy and Paige were so excited to see you both, and Dad and I were so worried about them waking up... He couldn't rest until Andy called. What a fun place, and great food!! Have fun with them! Love you.....
Shania Twain was the first concert I ever went to! My aunt Jayne and Colleen took me when I was about 10. They are big country music fans. Ben and I have been into Blake Shelton recently, so keep an eye out for him. I'd love a picture if you see him! Sounds like you guys had a great first day together! I agree with Michelle, your breakfast looked really good today! I think it was the fruit bowl that did it for me. Love you all!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you enjoyed your birthday present !! LOL Enjoy the rest of your Nashville experience!! Miss you !!
