Nashville
Steve and I hung out at a great little coffee shop around the corner from the Inn as we waited for Andy and Paige to wake from their crazy night out in Nashville. We were content relaxing at this coffee shop; perhaps it was the amazing iced coffee's we ordered! We planned to visit the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum today. That and visit the local candy shop and explore some rooftop bars in Nashville. It was our last day with Andy and Paige, so we wanted to savor every moment.

Instead of breakfast, we decided on lunch. So we went to a restaurant across the street from the Inn named Blackstone Brewery & Pub Cafe. Andy had ribs; I had a black bean burger; Paige a chicken sandwich and Steve a greek pizza!

Lunch across the street |
Next we headed to the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum. It was a great looking building and was organized quite artistically with all the different exhibits. There was a special exhibit featuring Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash. It was quite extensive and it expressed the influence these two musicians had on so many others.

The highlight of the museum was the Dylan and Cash exhibit. Steve loved this exhibit. He is a big fan of both as you know!

Steve caught Andy off guard with this shot |
This candy store (pictures below) was quite large and had an enormous selection of candy. It had every kind of candy imaginable. The only type of candy we could not find was Mexican Hats. We know how much the mom's love Mexican Hats, especially Nanny, but it looks like the people visiting Nashville must love Mexican Hats too because this candy store didn't have any in sight!

Wee! |
Here is a picture from the rooftop of the Acme Bar. Acme was located across the street from the Cumberland River. Apparently a very deep river between 8 and 40 feet. Very safe for larger water vessels.

Dinner |
Andy and Paige's flight is at 2:30p tomorrow so they can relax in the morning before heading to the airport. Steve and I will be up and out early because we are headed to Carthage tomorrow about 55 miles East of Nashville.
So we said our goodbye's. It was sad to leave Andy and Paige tonight, but it was made easier knowing we would see them again in just a few weeks. We have about 750 miles remaining until we get to Yorktown, VA. It seems we are in the last leg of our trip. Steve, Andy and I discussed how it feels to be so close to the end. Steve and I both agreed that we are excited to be able to see our family and friends soon, but a bit sad that our great adventure would be coming to an end!
Wow didn't realize there was so much to see in Nashville! Seems like you had a fun time with Andy and Paige. Lots of good food too! So, 55 miles to Carthage... as Jen is probably thinking... Hope the wind is at your backs! Safe riding! ❤️
ReplyDeleteThe hall of fall looks really beautiful. I do remember those artists (Williams, Cohen, Gordon) but I would always whine if Dad wanted to play them in the car. Dylan and Cash were acceptable! Although any of these artists were better than classical music! I am very happy to see that you had good coffee on your break in Nashville. You can never make up for all the bad coffee you've had, but you can try! I'm sad to see Andy and Paige leave the blog, but the show must go on. I guess it's back to the yellow jersey for a while. Good luck getting back on the road!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great vacation you all had with those rest days, and to enjoy them with Andy and Paige. You had some great plans for Andy and Paige, and they also fun on their own. So much to see and do in Nashville...Great food and nice restaurants. But I would be in seventh heaven listening to country music there!! The Hall of Fame Museum is such a beautiful bldg and so enormous.Love the pictures of you and the kids, they really enjoyed their vacation...I love the picture of the 4 of you--really nice!! No Mexican hats in that candy store, wow!! I told dad all about your trip to the Green Brier Distillery. He was very interested seeing the whiskey aging in the barrels!! And lastlly, you both look so happy riding in the horse and carriage. You are experiencing so many new adventures, the biggest being this cross country bike ride. So many conversations for years to come..Now I say again, take care and stay safe. Love you..
